1980 Yamaha XS650
Purchase Date: April 2012

I was at a local salvage yard picking up yet another motorcycle when the Yamaha caught my attention. I talked the owner into making a "bundle" deal for both bikes. After making the deal, I found out that the bike had a clean title, which was a nice surprise.
The 1980 Yamaha XS 650 is a parallel twin motorcycle with a displacement of 654 cc. The four stroke, air cooled engine has 48 hp @ 7,100 rpm. The Yamaha's top speed is 96.9 mph. Final drive is chain with a five speed gearbox. The XS has a curb weight of 487.2 lbs and a gas tank capacity of 3.17 gallons.
At the time, I had big plans to build a street tracker with a 377 degree camshaft conversion and big bore kit. Unfortunately, the bike sat in the corner covered with a tarp for some time and I eventually made the decision to put it up for sale. I listed the bike for sale on Craigslist and sold it within a few days.
